For the past few years, music education students at the NWU School of Music have annually presented a special kids’ production at the Conservatory. A multitude of children from preschools and creches in Potchefstroom and surrounding towns attend these shows, but other children and their parents are also welcome. Due to its popularity, the production is repeated a few times to accommodate everyone. Previous productions have even been presented at Aardklop.
In this year’s production, the Fairy Queen’s magic flute has vanished. Did the Wolf steal it to take over her kingdom, or is Red Riding Hood to blame? The kids’ production will be presented on Thursday 22 May at 09:00 and 11:00 and Friday 23 May at 09:00 in the Conservatory Hall. Tickets are available at the Conservatory in Thabo Mbeki Drive (tel. 018-299-1692) at only R10 each.
A documentary video of last year’s production is available at the School of Music’s YouTube channel and gives a good idea of what can be expected.
