The Italian-American pianist, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, is a regular visitor to South Africa, but will perform in Potchefstroom for the first time on Sunday 25 May 2014 at 15:30 in the Conservatory Hall. As the winner of the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 1999 and silver medalist in the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, he performs regularly in the world’s major concert venues and has already released more than 20 CD recordings.

The programme for his concert tour to South Africa is entitled “After a reading of … Liszt!” and features music composed or inspired by Franz Liszt. This includes Chopin’s Twelve Etudes, Op. 10 and Liszt’s own Ballade No. 2 in b minor. A short promotional video for this concert can be viewed at the School of Music’s YouTube channel.
