Tinus Botha, senior lecturer in piano at the NWU School of Music, will present a solo piano recital on Sunday 16 March 2014 at 15:30 in the Conservatory Hall. His programme will follow a fairly traditional pattern of Baroque, Classical and Romantic repertoire, including the well-loved Polonaise-Fantasie by Chopin. But as an enthusiastic performer of South African music, he will close the concert with Stefans Grové’s famous Nonyana, the Ceremonial Dancer.

Dr Botha studied at the University of Pretoria with Prof Joseph Stanford for his undergraduate and doctoral degrees, and also completed a Master’s degree in piano performance at Texas Christian University. He received numerous prizes and awards for his music performances. Apart from his solo and chamber music performances, he is also a regular accompanist for the Unisa international music competitions. He joined the staff of the NWU School of Music in January 2012.

Tickets are available at the Conservatory in Thabo Mbeki Drive (tel. 018-299-1692), PUK-Arts in the Heimat Building (F9) on the university campus (tel. 018-299-2844), Protea Book Shop on the Bult (tel. 018-297-1583), online at www.artema.co.za and www.facebook.com/NWU.Music, or 30 minutes before the concert at the box office.
