Hierdie jaar se vertoning is getiteld Twee Musiekte en dit is ŉ didaktiese sprokie, oorwegend in Afrikaans, wat kinders bekendstel aan die musiekkonsepte artikulasie en tempo.
The School of Music is very excited to welcome two new staff members this year. Dr Albi Odendaal has been appointed from 1 January 2016 as researcher and lecturer in Music Education. He hails from the Cape where he completed his BMus and MMus studies at the University of Cape Town. After teaching for five years at Hilton College, he earned his DMus in Music Education at the Sibelius Academy.

The final year BMus students in Music Education at the NWU School of Music have to present a cabaret each year as part of the requirements for their major subject. This year’s cabaret, The Conserve Cabaret, depicts through acting and music the life and times of a typical music student in a truly French cabaret style. The production consists of new, original cabaret songs as well as arrangements of popular.

Dr Mignon van Vreden joins the permanent teaching staff of the School of Music in January as the new lecturer in Music Education. She is not an unfamiliar face at the Conservatory as she has been teaching here part-time for the past few years. She completed her undergraduate music studies as well as a Master’s degree at the University of Stellenbosch, and earned a PhD from NWU in September 2014.
