Bursary Winners’ Concert

Music and Conservatory students at the North-West University annually have an opportunity to compete for study bursaries and prizes, worth several thousands of rands, during the School of Music’s Bursary Competition. Auditions are held over two days and the finalists then perform during the Bursary Winners’ Concert, after which the bursaries and prizes are awarded. This year the Bursary Winners’ Concert will have an added sparkle as the audience is.

THREE UNIVERSITY MUSIC DEPARTMENTS & TWO BLOEMFONTEIN CHOIRS COLLABORATE TO PRESENT MOZART’S REQUIEM Three of our students, soprano Thembinkosi Magagula, tenor Bongani Mthombeni and baritone Tshilidzi Ndou, will be performing solos in Mozart’s famous Requiem in D minor (K626) at the 2017 VRYSTAAT ARTS FESTIVAL in the Anglican Cathedral of St Andrew and St Michael in Bloemfontein on July 22nd at 6pm. The composer began work on the Requiem shortly.


Umculo workshops and master classes — 4-22 April 2016

The School of Music and NWU Choir Academy®, in collaboration with PUK Arts, will be hosting representatives from Umculo for the next few weeks. Umculo provides “performance and education initiatives and makes international expertise available to a broad network of South African participants and raises international awareness about the creative potential of South Africa’s talent”.
