For the 25th year, Potchpourri! opens the annual concert series at the Conservatory in Potchefstroom. The NWU School of Music has increased the number of concerts in its official concert series for this year by a third, with 8 concerts that will be presented in Potchefstroom during March, April and May. The former Director of the NWU School of Music, Prof Karendra Devroop, established a wind ensemble at Die Wilge High School in Potchefstroom in 2012 as part of his South African Music Outreach Project. A beautiful and inspiring documentary of this initiative was filmed in part at the Conservatory and features many current music students and also alumni. The School of Music is very excited to welcome two new staff members this year. Dr Albi Odendaal has been appointed from 1 January 2016 as researcher and lecturer in Music Education. He hails from the Cape where he completed his BMus and MMus studies at the University of Cape Town. After teaching for five years at Hilton College, he earned his DMus in Music Education at the Sibelius Academy.
