Love is in the air when staff of the NWU School of Music, joined by colleagues from elsewhere, perform the Liebeslieder Waltzes for vocal quartet and piano duet by Johannes Brahms. It is the main work at a concert on Tuesday 11 August at 19:30 in the Conservatory Hall. Although the saxophone was invented in the 1840s, well before the origin of jazz music, it is predominantly associated with jazz, either as a solo instrument or in big bands. On the other hand, it has been quite popular with classical composers since the start of the 20th century and is featured in numerous works for orchestra, chamber ensemble or solo saxophone.
