The singing section at the NWU School of Music will present an afternoon concert on Sunday 9 March 2014 at 15:30 in the Conservatory Hall in which the art song genre will be celebrated. Vocal students will perform songs in English, Afrikaans and German by Ivor Novello, Gideon Fagan and S. le Roux Marais, as well as Franz Schubert and Richard Strauss. In addition, Ms Dirkie Nell will recite the poetry which was set to music. A vibrant rendition of the song text followed by a sensitive interpretation by the singer is sure to move the listener as only the intimate genre of the art song is capable of doing.
